The internet has been left fighting back tears after a woman found a struggling kitten in the middle of the street and didn’t hesitate to step in and help her.
Sarajane LaRevitzear was in her car when what many social media users refer to as the “cat distribution system” appeared to strike once again. She shared a video on TikTok (@sj.larevitzear) capturing the shocking moment she spotted a tiny kitten wandering alone in the road in Atlanta, Georgia, visibly vulnerable and unable to open its eyes.
After seeing the struggling kitten, LaRevitzear immediately pulled over to assist. Without hesitation, she got out of her vehicle and scooped the kitten up, bringing her to safety.
During the TikTok video, the kitten is shown perched against LaRevitzear’s chest, looking nervous and confused by her new surroundings. The moment struck an emotional chord with viewers, many of whom praised the woman for stopping and helping when she could have easily driven past.
Since the video was shared online in February, the post has gone viral, amassing more than 722,400 views and over 128,100 likes on TikTok at the time of writing.
Fortunately, LaRevitzear didn’t leave viewers hanging and went on to share an update about the kitten’s condition. The video shows the small cat curled up inside the pocket of her robe, sleeping peacefully and looking far more comfortable and content than she did when first found. According to LaRevitzear, she carefully wiped the kitten’s eyes using water wipes, which allowed the kitten to finally reopen them.
Temperatures in Atlanta were much colder at the time, something LaRevitzear later reflected on with disbelief, admitting she wasn’t sure how the kitten managed to survive alone outdoors. A subsequent veterinary visit revealed the kitten had pneumonia, meaning she required close monitoring, medication and plenty of care following her rescue.
In the days and weeks that followed, the kitten’s condition steadily improved. She began eating well, gained weight and slowly grew stronger. LaRevitzear later revealed that the once-struggling stray had been named Millie.
Now that she’s mostly recovered from her initial health concerns, LaRevitzear told viewers that Millie “is thriving.” The kitten has settled into her new home and gets along well with the dogs in the household, though LaRevitzear joked that Millie isn’t quite as friendly with the other cats.
Online, viewers have been deeply moved by Millie’s journey from a helpless kitten in the street to a healthy, loved pet. Many TikTok users flooded the comments asking for updates and expressing gratitude that someone stopped to help when it mattered most.
The emotional response has resulted in more than 1,200 comments on the video alone.
