Former Eagles Star Slams Fans Amid AJ Brown Trade Rumors

Speculation has been running rampant for weeks now about where A.J. Brown will end up playing next season, and many Philadelphia Eagles fans seem to want him gone.

However, one of Brown’s former teammates is coming to his defense and calling out fans regarding their criticisms of the three-time Pro Bowler. Cornerback C.J. Gardner-Johnson played for Philly in 2022 and then again in 2024, so he was there for Brown’s rookie season and the Eagles’ Super Bowl win a few seasons ago.

While he’s now a member of the Buffalo Bills’ roster, he understands how harsh Eagles fans can be towards their players when the team isn’t winning like it was before.

“Philly turned on AJ so bad it’s sad! Yall love us when we help yall win but damn why yall bashing Bruda now ?!” he wrote on his X on Wednesday.

Earlier this month at the Annual League Meeting, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni addressed the situation with Brown, saying, “Nothing’s changed there. A.J.’s an Eagle.” If that wasn’t enough for fans who want Brown on the roster, the Eagles GM gave a similar statement, endorsing Brown as an Eagle.

However, trade rumors persist, and some fans have expressed frustration with Brown, suggesting he wants to leave Philadelphia to play elsewhere.

“Philly didn’t turn on him. It’s just disappointing that if the rumors are true and he wants to leave that don’t sit right with us fans,” an X commenter replied to Gardner-Johnson.

Another replied, “He doesn’t want to be here and hasn’t for a while. We haven’t turned on him. He quit on us.”

“Bashing? We just started telling the truth. Bro been a clown all season and when it was time to take accountability, he signed a jersey, left and requested a trade,” another X commenter wrote.

There have been multiple teams linked to trades for Brown, with the New England Patriots mentioned often. An NFL.com speculative article suggested the Patriots could trade two of their picks in the NFL Draft, along with receiver Kayshon Boutte.

The Los Angeles Chargers, Tennessee Titans, Las Vegas Raiders, and Baltimore Ravens are also in NFL.com’s potential trades.

Interestingly, the Bills are also there, which would reunite former Eagles teammates Brown and Gardner-Johnson in Buffalo. In that potential trade, Buffalo would send this year’s first-round pick and 2027’s second-round pick to add him to their squad.

It would be an intriguing move to further boost the Bills’ receiving corps for Josh Allen, as the team added D.J. Moore via trade with the Chicago Bears last month.
