A springer spaniel named Jinky has amused viewers on TikTok after a video capturing his unmistakable look of betrayal during bath time made waves on the platform.
In the short clip, Jinky appeared stoically miserable in his household shower, eyes locked on the bathroom tiles with what viewers have described as pure canine indignation. To the delight of viewers online, Jinky’s owner immediately revealed the dog’s reason for being subjected to a shower: leaping joyfully into a swamp.
The now-viral clip, shared by Jinky’s owner under @jinky_springerspaniel on September 24, has racked up more than 211,000 views and over 21,000 likes to date. Viewers were able to see the hilarious shot of Jinky in the bath quickly cut to a very telling scene of the same dog bounding into a marshland or small lake, tail wagging, body splashing through mud and water in total ecstasy.
An overlaid text on the video highlights the contrast that most canines’ owners know all too well: “My dog acting betrayed in the shower forgetting this is a consequence of his own actions.”
The post’s caption drives the point home with a wink to justice served: “If you can’t do the time …”
That clash—between Jinky’s joy in the mess and his utter dismay in the aftermath—has left viewers on TikTok in hysterics, many of whom commented on how deeply relatable the scene is.
“He’s plotting his next dive as you wash him,” one viewer said.
“Must’ve been the wind,” another posted.
“This is literally my spaniel every time,” a third viewer shared.
“Love this, he looks like a character,” one commenter added.
“I mean, I feel sympathy, but I own the same … exact same model,” another viewer commented.
“It’s always a spaniel,” a third said.
Indeed, springer spaniels are well known for their boundless energy, playful temperament, and love of the outdoors.
Originally bred to work, they have a natural instinct for running, swimming, and exploring, which makes them a high-energy breed that thrives on regular exercise and mental stimulation.
Their enthusiasm for muddy adventures and water play is almost unmatched, often leaving their owners laughing, and, in this case, reaching for the hose.
