A stray cat turned up at a woman’s home during a winter storm—and what happened next stunned viewers.
TikToker Jamkenny (@jl20254131710) shared a video showing an adorable gray tabby making biscuits on her couch, nestled comfortably between two people—clearly feeling safe and at ease. The clip has racked up more than 463,300 likes and 1.9 million views.
“He faithfully shows up on our porch everyday for his bowl of food. I couldn’t leave him out there in this weather,” she captioned the post, letting viewers know why she welcomed him inside.
“When you let the stray cat in for the winter storm,” she wrote as the text overlay on the video.
It’s not clear whether Jamkenny ended up keeping the cat after his warm stay inside—or if he returned to brave the snow once the storm passed.
Finding a stray or lost cat can be confusing, according to Humane World for Animals, the way you handle the situation matters. If you come across a cat you think is a stray, start by looking for clues that might lead you to an owner.
Check for a collar or identification, and ask neighbors if they recognize the animal—cats often roam far from home but still belong to someone nearby.
Microchip scanning at a local vet or shelter can also identify an owner quickly. If no owner is found, you can post flyers and share photos on social media to help reconnect cat and family.
When it comes to feeding a stray cat, opinions vary. Some animal welfare groups caution against immediately feeding an unfamiliar cat, especially if it appears healthy, since it might already have a home and its own diet. Feeding can sometimes encourage the cat to keep returning before you’ve confirmed its status.
TikTokers were quick to react to Jamkenny’s cozy video, flooding the comments with support and curiosity.
“Oh please don’t put him back out, he’ll feel thrown away. This baby loves you already,” said Marie Cooper.
“That’s your baby now,” added Anna.
“Congratulations on your new cat,” shared another user.
“That kitty had a home once, is what makes me so sad! he’s definitely been inside before,” one viewer suggested.
“He is auditioning for a permanent spot, I hope you are able to keep him,” another chimed in.
“I don’t think he’s a stray cat anymore. He’s presenting you biscuits,” wrote one commenter.
Some viewers shared stories of their own.
“My stray that I brought in during the cold (four years ago),” shared a woman called Sarah, along with a photo of her own cat.
“Our ‘stray’ we trapped him and his siblings inside because of the weather. Safe to say they are no longer strays and will be staying,” added Aj.
“I think it’s okay if you can’t keep him all the time. It’s okay if it’s just temporary. Ideally it would be good to get him fixed though. But don’t let people make you feel guilty,” offered another user.
