Husky Seen Relaxing in Snow, Hysterics at What Kelpie Mix Sibling Does Next

Internet users can’t get enough of how unimpressed a Rottweiler and Kelpie mix seemed about the recent snowfall, which was in direct contrast to his husky sister who was in her element.

Dog owner Tabitha Running, 36, shared a hilarious video on TikTok (@tabitha.patricia) showing just how content Sky the 4-year-old husky mix looked as she lay outside in the snow. Sky was completely unfazed by the minus 28-degree temperature in Ontario, Canada, as Running told Newsweek that she was “in her own heaven.”

Compare that her Running’s other rescue dog, 2-year-old Bolt, who didn’t look overly pleased. The video shows Running opening the door for Bolt to join his sister outside, but as soon as he felt how cold it was out there, he quickly declined and started backing away.

“They both love snow to be honest,” Running said. “Bolt loves chasing snow as I shovel it, he just can’t do the colder temperatures for long. Whereas Sky would live in the snow if she could. She loves to rest, dig, and, of course, eat snow.”

There was no doubt that Sky would love the snow and freezing temperatures, but Running certainly wasn’t expecting Bolt to respond so decisively. She thought he’d go out for a bit and then come back inside shortly after. But even that was too much for him on this occasion.

The video showing their contrasting reactions to the wintery climate was shared on TikTok, and internet users are obsessed. The video has already gone viral with over 4.2 million views and 549,700 likes on TikTok at the time of writing, as many people lauded the dogs for sticking to their preferences.

The caption alongside the video jokes, “immediately no. Immediately no.”

It’s no surprise that Sky loves the snow and freezing temperatures, as huskies originated in the cold climate of Northeast Asia where they were bred to be sled dogs. The American Kennel Club explains that they have a much thicker coat than other breeds, and it’s made up of a dense undercoat and a longer, coarse topcoat to retain heat.

As for Bolt, he loves playing in the snow and running around in it, but preferably not when it’s minus 28 outside. Running told Newsweek that it was “the coldest day of the year” at the time, so Bolt was happy to sit this one out.

“During the colder temperatures, he’ll do his business and get back inside quickly. Unless there’s a squirrel grabbing his attention,” Running said. “When I had two huskies, they would fall asleep together out in weather like this, but Sky admittedly gets lonely and will eventually make her way back inside.”

The online reaction to the TikTok video has been overwhelmingly positive. Running has loved hearing from so many other pet owners who shared their own similar experiences, including dogs who are more like Sky and those who are just like Bolt.

This has led to more than 900 comments on the viral video already, as many even shared pictures of their dogs enjoying the snow.

One comment reads: “The husky: ‘FINALLY someone paid the ac bill’.”

Another TikTok user wrote: “he got one whiff and noped out.”

While another person joked: “no ma’am I was just standing here, don’t get me wrong.”
