A video of a miniature dachshund suspended from a bathroom stall door during an airport layover has left viewers on TikTok in stitches, as travelers related to the realities of flying solo with a pet.

Speaking to Newsweek, the pet’s owner, Sammi Syse said: “Alfie is an 8-month-old mini dachshund and in his short time he’s already been to seven states! Every state we’ve been to Alfie’s gotten a new state pin…This video specifically was in the Kansas City Airport.”

The moment Syse filmed—which saw Alfie calmly dangling from a dog carrier hooked onto a stall door—has gained viral attention on the platform. Shared to TikTok under @littlealfiebaby on January 9, the clip has been viewed more than 1.1 million times, accumulating over 198,000 likes and hundreds of amused, empathetic and affirming comments from fellow pet owners on TikTok.

The short video shows Alfie suspended in a dog carrier that doubles as an all‑in‑one travel organizer. Alongside the dachshund, the carrier’s pockets are stuffed with items including a Stanley cup, making the set‑up both practical and unintentionally comedic. With his small paws tucked in and an unmistakably pleased expression, Alfie appears entirely unfazed by his unusual vantage point inside the airport toilet cubicle.

An overlaid text on the reel reads: “POV: [Point of view] You’re traveling solo with your dog and have to pee.” The post was captioned: “Why did he pretend he was a statue.”

For Syse, the moment was simply part of navigating a holiday journey. But for viewers, it was instantly recognizable—especially those who have tried balancing luggage, pets and basic human needs during airport layovers.

In comment section viewers expressed both laughter and solidarity.

Syse, 28, said that seeing the clip take off online was an unexpected thrill. But what stayed with her were the stories shared from other pet owners in response about similar travel struggles.

“My favorite part was all of the pet owners in the comments who shared the same experience,” she said, adding that she now revisits the video whenever she needs a boost.

Although still a puppy, Alfie is already a seasoned traveler. According to Syse, he has visited several U.S. states before his first birthday. His “energetic, mischievous” personality—and now his bathroom‑stall moment—have quickly turned him into a small but growing social‑media star.

“He is silly and naughty and rambunctious,” Syse said.
