A father juggling two jobs said he was overwhelmed with emotion after discovering a heartfelt message left for him by his young daughter.
Posting to the r/daddit subreddit, u/Gunn4r shared that he had been going through a particularly difficult stretch.
“Been having a really stressful and hard time lately working two jobs and came back to my desk today and found this,” the original poster (OP) wrote.
Attached to the post was a picture of a handwritten note from his 8-year-old daughter which read: “Dear Dad, I love you. You support our family so so so much. You are the best dad ever.”
The brief but powerful message instantly struck a chord with the father. “Guys I’m melting,” he wrote. “I love my daughter so much.”
As of August 2025, about 5.2 percent of U.S. workers heled more than one job and a report from The Federal Reserve found that 37 percent of adults said their family’s monthly spending had increased over the prior year.
At the time of writing, the post has received over 580 upvotes and dozens of comments from fellow parents.
“That right there is why we do it, awesome work man!” one user wrote.
“You’re raising an awesome person, my friend,” another added.
Many others agreed that seeing the note would make all the stress worth it for the father.
One commenter joked: “Wait, I thought I was the best dad ever. Have my kids been lying to me this whole time?? Seriously though, you rock, dad!!!”
The original poster responded: “Haha right? The great thing is we all have the opportunity to be the best Dad ever to these amazing little people.”
Other Reddit users shared their own experiences of finding unexpected notes from their children, saying such small gestures often provide a burst of encouragement during difficult times.
“Kids can be the greatest and most pure expression of love. My 5-year-old son goes shoe shopping with me and says we’re here to buy the bestest dad ever shoes. Moments like that make the hard days all worth it,” another wrote.
In this father’s case, long hours and worries were briefly interrupted by a handwritten note reminding him that his efforts don’t go unnoticed.
As one commenter summed it up: “Melt away, my friend. If I were you, I’d tuck that note into my wallet or somewhere, so when [it’s] tough and you’re having a rough day, you can pull it out and remember why we do it. Keep on rockin’, dad.”
