A boxer puppy’s sleepy reaction after discovering her much-larger sister had claimed the entire dog bed has melted hearts on social media, with the clip racking up over 100,000 views.
The short TikTok video shows a golden retriever sprawled out across a bed that is clearly too small for her. Sitting beside her is Roxy, a tiny boxer puppy, who looks on in confusion before letting out a yawn that seems to underline just how tired she is.
Text layered over the March 1 clip reads, “when your big sister takes up the entire bed,” a moment that resonated with viewers and earned more than 17,000 likes.
Rather than kicking up a fuss, Roxy quietly rests her head on the golden retriever’s leg, appearing content to share the limited space—even if it means getting the shorter end of the deal.
The video was shared to an account dedicated to the pup, @roxytheboxydog, where viewers were quick to weigh in with their own stories of bed-stealing dogs.
One user commented: “My 20lb cocker spaniel steals my 95lb mixed dog’s bed. He then comes over to me to tattle then whines when I tell him, ‘she’s an old lady leave her be let her enjoy the big bed just find some where else!’”
Another said, “Poor baby…put her on your lap so she can sleep,” and the owner responded: “sometimes she sleeps on her.”
Others suggested the obvious solution—buying a bigger bed—but the owner was quick to shut that down in the comments, writing: “The big one has her own bigger bed and still chooses the smaller one.”
When another viewer echoed the suggestion, the owner added: “they have a bigger bed. Both choose to cram onto the small one.”
While the clip is a lighthearted snapshot of sibling dynamics between dogs, experts say sleeping arrangements are more important than many owners might realize.
The Importance of a Good Dog Bed
The American Kennel Club (AKC) says that dogs typically sleep between 12 and 18 hours a day, depending on their age, making a comfortable and supportive bed an important part of their daily routine. Although many canines enjoy curling up with their owners—or, in Roxy’s case, a sibling—the AKC advises that dogs should ideally have a bed of their own, giving them a dedicated space to relax and sleep.
The AKC says a good dog bed should provide both comfort and support, particularly for joints. As canines age, they may develop conditions such as arthritis or hip dysplasia, and a supportive bed can help cushion the body and reduce pressure. Proper support is also important for growing puppies, helping them rest comfortably as their bodies develop.
Quality sleep plays a key role in a pup’s overall health, too. The AKC notes that well-rested dogs are generally healthier and may even perform better during training, with research suggesting that sleep helps canines retain what they learn. A cozy bed that encourages dogs to settle and stay asleep can be especially beneficial for older dogs and larger breeds.
The organization also emphasizes that canines benefit from having a quiet, den-like space of their own, away from the bustle of daily life.
Choosing the right size bed allows dogs to stretch out comfortably, while easy-to-clean, machine-washable options help keep dirt, hair, and germs under control—particularly for puppies still being house-trained.
For Roxy, however, having her own bed doesn’t seem to matter quite as much as being close to her big sister—even if it means squeezing into a space clearly not designed for two.
