Hilarious pet cam footage showing the chaos a dog caused while she was home alone has left the internet stunned, but the incriminating video evidence makes it hard to defend her antics.
It’s commonplace for owners to check the pet cam while they’re out and see what their dog is getting up to. But when Taylor (TikTok user @tbrawlen) checked the footage, he was left horrified by his golden retriever’s antics.
Upon checking the footage, Taylor was greeted by the horrifying site of his mischievous dog playing with a plastic plant pot – leaving its contents all over the floor. While the dog seemed to enjoy wrestling with her newest toy, she certainly didn’t seem to mind the dirt and plant leaves spread across the floor and couch.
After seeing what his pup was up to, Taylor couldn’t resist sharing the pet cam footage on TikTok in September. The video has left internet users in shock and in hysterics, going viral with over 241,600 views and more than 12,200 likes at the time of writing.

As dismayed as Taylor was about the clean up job he had to face when he returned home, he managed to see the humor in the situation. The caption alongside the TikTok clip jokes that “at least she’s having fun.”
There’s no doubt the dog was living her best life that morning, as she was seen tossing the plastic planter in the air and throwing it around the room.
Frustrating as it may be, it’s perfectly normal for dogs to chew on items as it’s their way of exploring the world. Indeed, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) explains that chewing can relieve pain caused by incoming teeth, it can keep their jaws strong, relieve anxiety, or combat boredom.
Before working out a solution, it’s worth figuring out why the dog is being destructive first. Could it be hunger, teething, frustration, or lack of exercise? Once the cause has been outlined, it can be addressed.
It may be a case of puppy-proofing the home and removing any loose items that act as temptations, providing a more sufficient diet, going for longer and more frequent walks or reducing exposure to anything that causes them stress.
The ASPCA doesn’t recommend muzzling or leaving dogs in a crate for more than six hours to tackle chewing. It’s better to address the root cause and help them improve rather than punish bad behavior.
Since the pet cam footage went viral, many TikTok users have lauded the dog’s tactic to keep herself occupied, while others did their best to defend her behavior. This has led to more than 140 comments on the TikTok post so far.

Another person replied: “I would be so mad to come home to this haha, but omg he is having the BEST time.”
While one commenter added: “I would have a meltdown. But the planter being thrown into the air is my favorite part.”
