Some dogs love the rain, but one pup’s unimpressed reaction to the wet weather has left internet users in hysterics.
TikTok user @letmebefrrank shared a hilarious video on social media showing exactly what her canine thinks about the rain. The footage shows the dog, wrapped up in a neon raincoat, a hood over his head and even wearing little booties to protect his paws, but still looking utterly miserable about having to be outside.
Rain and stormy weather may not be something the dog has been too accustomed to, as the owner joked that this is the result of moving her dog “from San Diego to San Francisco.”
TikTok users can’t get enough of the dog’s sassy reaction, and the clip has gone viral in just a matter of days. At the time of writing, the TikTok post has generated over 1.9 million views and more than 400,200 likes.
The clip shows the pup’s owner trying her best to pull on the leash and get him to move, but that didn’t go so well. As much as the owner tried to tempt the unhappy dog, there was just no way of getting him to budge.
There was only one place he wanted to be, and that was inside where it is dry.
Just like humans, every dog is different and has their own unique likes and dislikes. While some pups love splashing in puddles (much to their owners’ dismay), others hate to get even a single raindrop on their fur.
Experts at Hill’s Pet Nutrition say that it is usually because they don’t like the sensation of wet paws or dislike muddy terrain, or it may be a lack of exposure to the elements.
There are ways of helping canines learn to love (or at least, accept) the rain, however. Hill’s Pet Nutrition recommends feeding them some tasty treats when they are standing on damp grass to build positive associations with having wet paws. It can also help to make real effort to clean and dry the pups afterward.
While the owner may not have been too pleased with her dog’s antics, internet viewers can’t get enough. Many TikTok users have taken to the comments to laud the canine for refusing to take one step outside in the rain, leading to over 2,300 responses already.
One comment on the viral video reads: “He said ‘this is where YOU live. Send me back to San Diego’.”
Another TikTok user wrote: “He’s thinking how fast can I get back to San Diego if I make a run for it!”
A third person replied: “get that baby inside with a pupcup and a warm blanket.”
One commenter added: “He’s LITERALLY standing on business!”
