A woman who dug out one of her old journals couldn’t resist giving it a read, but she never could have guessed that a diary entry from 1984 would have a subtle link to 2026.
As she prepares to move house soon, Susie Milwit was cleaning out her closets and found a container full of old photos, cards and journals. She’d kept them for all these years, and it only felt right to take a moment and go down memory lane.
Indeed, Milwit, 55, of Virginia, told Newsweek that it was “funny and a little boring” when she started reading her seventh grade journal that started in late 1983 and went through to mid-1984. Most of the entries were about “girl drama” and the odd crush Milwit had back then.
But there was one page from February 28, 1984, that truly caught her eye.
“I had to read it a few times because I could not believe it,” Milwit said. “I immediately took a picture and sent it to the group chat with my kids. Although, I had to tell them what it said because kids don’t use cursive anymore and they couldn’t read it.”
The diary entry mentioned how fun school was and noted that “today is somebody’s birthday, but I can’t remember whose.” It might have seemed like a throwaway comment at the time, but it left Milwit stunned because February 28 marks the day Milwit became a mom when she gave birth to her daughter, Molly, in 2001.
“It gave me chills and I was a little freaked out because of the reference to the date and a birthday I couldn’t remember, now knowing it’s my daughter’s birthday,” Milwit said.
She still isn’t sure who she was writing about, but it feels like such an extraordinary link. No one else in her family has that birthday except for Milwit’s daughter.
The mom-of-two couldn’t resist sharing this revelation in a TikTok video (@susiermil), asking, “what are the chances?” The video has gone viral in just a matter of days, generating over 4.4 million views and more than 571,100 likes at the time of writing.
The diary entry from over 40 years ago also came as quite the surprise to Milwit’s daughter Molly, who got “the chills” when she heard.
The online reaction to the video has been incredibly overwhelming. Many people were amazed by the coincidence, while skeptics questioned the legitimacy of the diary entry. Some asked why it was written in ink while other pages were pencil, and others said the handwriting wasn’t the same. Milwit anticipated some negativity (it is the internet, after all), but she never imagined she’d have to answer so many critics.
She said: “I honestly was prepared for some negative comments on my handwriting or spelling, but I never thought I would be questioned on the authenticity. It was entertaining to read the comments, knowing people were spending their time dissecting it to that level. I wish I was that creative, and I would have definitely given myself better grammar if it was fake.
“I never expected my seventh-grade diary to make its way around TikTok, but here we are. I hope everyone gets their own special wink from the universe in their lifetime.”
Many social media users took to the comments to share their reactions, leading to more than 4,300 responses on the TikTok post so far.
One comment reads: “Invisible string theory?”
Another TikTok user wrote: “This is so sweet, technically you’ve been carrying her with you you’re whole life.”
While another person replied: “Awwww you manifested her and didn’t even know it.”
