Cane Corso Starts Acting Strange, What Vet Asks Owner Changes Life Forever

In a viral video shared on Saturday, a dog owner took her pup to the vet after noticing he was acting strange—she was not ready for the reason why.

The hilarious Instagram video, shared by Jade Emily Farrow under the username @jadeemily21, shows the cane corso suddenly acting strange around the poster, which led her to believe he was unwell. But then she took him to the veterinarian, who gave a very different diagnosis.

“Took him to the vets for a check over, vet asked me if I could be pregnant. Expensive pregnancy test,” the caption says.

Dogs are known for extraordinary scent abilities, which leads many people to wonder whether they can tell when someone is pregnant.

The American Kennel Club (AKC) explains that hormonal shifts during pregnancy can subtly change a person’s smell, and specialists believe canines may notice these differences even before humans do, though this idea is not scientifically proven.

With far more scent receptors than people and a large portion of their brains devoted to smell, dogs can distinguish tens of thousands of odors and detect chemical changes linked to health conditions, cycles, and pregnancy.

While no one can pinpoint how early dogs recognize pregnancy, experts agree that very little escapes a canine nose. Dogs likely do not understand what pregnancy is, but they do perceive that something about their owner’s body, behavior, and emotions has changed. This awareness can spark curiosity or altered behavior.

Reactions vary widely. Some canines become calmer, more attentive, affectionate, or protective, while others may act anxious or unaffected. Stories from owners describe dogs guarding pregnant people more closely or becoming overly alert during walks. Veterinarians note that shifts at home influence these reactions.

The video quickly went viral on social media and has so far received over 2 million views and more than 138,000 likes on the platform.

One user, Maris._02, commented: “Mother…I don’t mean to alarm you but…”

Definition_of_undefined said: “The vet asking you if you need to go to your vet for a check.”

Eman_azs added: “I remember my dog changed his attitude suddenly and became over protective of me, and he wouldn’t let anyone around me before I even know that I was pregnant. and when I got the baby 1st time home to meet him he had that big smile on his face like he already knew her!!!”
