The internet has fallen in love with a small dog greeting her grandpa in a giant way, and what he brought through the door turned a simple homecoming into a moment viewers can’t stop replaying.
Dog owner Nadine, based in Germany, began filming her front door as she waited for her father to arrive. She knows how special the bond is between her dog, Phoebe, and her dad, and wanted to showcase it on the Instagram account @mymaltipoophoebe.
In a November 1 Instagram clip, which has racked up more than 1.4 million views, her maltipoo sprinted through the hallway as soon as she spotted the door crack open. Phoebe paused until her grandpa poked his head in, which set her off on a zooming frenzy. From circling on the floor to wagging her tail on the dog bed, Phoebe was elated and couldn’t settle down.

Nadine’s father tried to greet Phoebe by bending down after taking his shoes off, but the dog couldn’t stay still.
In the second part of the video, Phoebe finally calmed down as her grandpa held her in his arms, attempting to give her pets and kisses—though she continued to squirm with excitement.
Nadine’s father appeared just as thrilled to see them, arriving with flowers in hand, to which he referred as “lilies for the ladies.” While many Instagram users found the gesture sweet, others expressed concern in the comments, noting that lilies can be toxic to dogs.
An article from PetMD says that exposure to certain types of lilies can be considered poisonous to dogs. Not all lilies are highly toxic, and ingestion rarely leads to lethal poisonings, but owners are advised to steer clear of the flower, as it can still cause upset stomachs and other reactions. Signs of ingestion include vomiting, diarrhea, decreased appetite, excessive drooling or pawing at the face due to irritation.
But still, the grandpa’s gesture and dog’s reaction were enough to win over the internet. Instagram users obsessed over the relationship in the comment section, calling Phoebe a “precious pup.”
“Phoebe is obviously thrilled to see her grandfather,” wrote a viewer.
Another added: “Safe to say she loves him!”
Someone else chimed in: “Happiness overload. What a fabulous way to be greeted.”
