A pet owner's way of trying to keep their teething puppy entertained—and away from intricate pieces of furniture—has hilariously backfired, leaving viewers on TikTok in hysterics.

The owner, who posts under @mao.maki.mini.dac, had decided to get their mischievous dachshund a sibling, only to find that the new pup was soon enlisted in helping the older canine chew on a coffee-table leg. A post capturing the lighthearted moment was shared to the platform on August 7, racking up more than 692,000 views to date.

"She's bored, let's find her a sister," an overlaid text on the pet-cam video read, while viewers could see a clip of the owner's first dachshund energetically chewing the wooden table leg. The clip then transitioned to show the dog's new sibling sat by their side, chewing the same part of the table leg with equal enthusiasm.

"Send help," the owner, who is based in Geneva, Switzerland, shared in the caption.

Viewers on TikTok were quick to share how much they could relate to the chaotic scene. Puppies have a tendency to chew whatever they come across while teething, a process that starts when they turn 3 or 4 weeks old and can continue until 6 months old.

Keen to preserve their hard-earned furniture, many owners opt for teething toys and edible chewing treats to keep their puppies occupied when they want to bite everything in sight.

"I can relate," one viewer said. "We have a table made out of raw wood as well.

"We also have two Italian Greyhound puppies that love to chew on sticks," they added.

Several viewers joked that the design of the table, a raw wooden texture, may have been too tempting for dogs that are naturally inclined to want to play with sticks of bark and wood.

"You have a log table what are you expecting," another viewer commented.

"Let's be fair, this table is literally made out of lots of sticks," one comment added.

"The table literally sticks so technically it's their chew toy now," a viewer shared.

"My guys never chewed in furniture, but I think that table would be too tempting for him," another posted.

"I can understand their confusion," a comment read.

"It is the table's fault," another added.

"Proof that a second dog doesn't solve behavioral issues," a third said.
