Alysa Liu is everywhere right now, from social media to broadcast television in North America.

The 20-year-old figure skating world champion and now double gold medalist from the Winter Olympic Games is making the rounds of morning to primetime to late-night television, answering every question under the sun.

On Monday in New York, before another NBC talk show appearance, Liu was questioned about her future. While she already answered during the Closing Ceremony that she would continue competing following the upcoming World Championships and at least do another season, she didn’t mention the French Alps Olympics in four years.

After retiring following the 2016 Games in Beijing, there were thoughts from fans and pundits alike that Liu might not want to compete at her third Olympics after having a dream in Milan two weeks earlier.

But she put those fears to rest, stating that she’d love the opportunity to defend her gold medal in four years if given the chance.

“Yeah, I mean, I like France,” she answered when asked about competing in the 2030 Olympics. “So yeah, I would like to.”

Her words about figure skating couldn’t be more different after the 2026 Games than they were in Beijing. She described the Chinese Olympics as a “job” and said that, though she had fun in the Olympic Village and enjoyed the overall experience, she was happy to put her skating career behind her.

Now, Liu can’t stop talking about how much joy she’s finding within herself when she skates. She’s already talking about which new songs she wants to add to her upcoming routines and what the future holds for her in figure skating.

Next up for Liu will be a defense of her world championship women’s title in Prague, Czechia, later this month.
