A dog owner has revealed what it looks like when a husky and a Chihuahua have puppies together.

In a video posted to TikTok by @applejuicekae, a woman in the U.S. called Kae offered up the briefest of glimpses at her dog, Cody, who is a husky mix.

Quite how Cody came to be remains a mystery, though.

Writing alongside the clip, Kae explained: “I did not breed him and adopted him at a young age and we later found out through DNA he was husky mixed.”

Though there is constant demand for purebred dogs in some quarters, the reality is that the majority of our four-legged friends are of mixed breed.

National estimates from the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) show that roughly 44 percent to 55 percent of pet dogs in U.S. households are mixed breed.

Mixed-breed dogs make up the vast majority of those found in animal shelters across the country.

However, while purebreds may be desirable to some, there are ample advantages to be had from having a mixed-breed dog.

For starters, there are the cost savings of getting one of these not-so-in-demand mutts. Mixed‑breed dogs also often benefit from a wider genetic pool, which can reduce the likelihood of inherited disorders common in tightly bred purebreds.

A large 2026 study of more than 3,000 dog owners found that mixed breeds also show a measurable health advantage linked to hybrid vigor

Kae’s dog is a demonstration of something else that is appealing about a mixed-breed dog: individuality. There aren’t many people out there with husky Chihuahua mixes.

It’s a unique blend that brings together the husky’s eye-catching coat and the Chihuahua’s diminutive stature and adorable facial features.

Social Media Reactions

It certainly appears to be a popular mix among those commenting on the TikTok video.

“OMG [oh my God] I have to have one,” one user wrote, with another adding: “this is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.” A third, meanwhile, quickly branded Cody a “Chusky.”

A fourth, meanwhile, shared their own adorable mixed-breed dog experience, writing: “my bestie has a Chihuahua golden lab mix rescue and he’s so cute lmao [laughing my a** off].”

This isn’t the first time a distinctive mixed breed has turned heads on social media. Previously, an English bull terrier Border collie mix was melting hearts on social media.

Then there was the golden retriever Bernese mountain dog that captivated animal lovers online. Elsewhere, there was the story of the woman who thought she had picked up a Chihuahua from a rescue situation until the dog kept growing and growing.
