Justin Rose Announces Major Change After The Masters

For the second straight year Justin Rose found himself in contention at the Masters and for the second straight year he lost out to longtime friend and Ryder Cup teammate Rory McIlroy.

Just a year after losing to McIlroy in a playoff, Rose fell just short of his first green jacket again this year by finishing in a tie for third despite holding the lead at one point on Sunday. As Rose prepares for the second major of the year to be played in mid-May, he made quite the change.

The former U.S. Open champion partnered with McLaren Golf and will use new clubs at the PGA Tour’s Cadillac Championship, a signature event, this weekend.

“From the beginning, this has been a passion project,” Rose said in a release. “I’ve had the opportunity to be involved from the outset — working with the team, testing the clubs and helping shape what they’ve become.”

“That level of involvement, combined with the standards McLaren brings to everything they do, made this an easy decision for me. I’m excited to put the clubs in play and watch the brand flourish.”

Rose makes the change in the midst of a career resurgence having finished top 3 at the Masters in each of the past two years. He’s also won twice on the PGA Tour since last August and leads the tour in greens in regulation this season.
