Internet users can’t get enough of a golden retriever’s “big feelings” as soon as he met his new puppy brother.
After bringing home an 8-week-old golden retriever and Labrador mix named Bucky, owner Chelsey Bell, 29, was so overjoyed by the new addition to the family. While there was no denying her excitement, she was unsure how her 3-year-old golden retriever, named Pecco, would respond.
Indeed, Bell, from the U.K., told Newsweek that Pecco is “quite a sensitive soul,” and there was no way of knowing what he would think of his new sibling. To his owner’s surprise, Pecco couldn’t have been more elated about meeting Bucky, who was named after the Marvel character Bucky Barnes. The golden retriever instantly brought his favorite dog toy over and started sniffing the tiny puppy.
“Pecco was a little reserved at first, but he soon adjusted to this new arrival,” Bell said. “We were unsure on how he would respond, but he did far better than we had imagined.
“Pecco was having big feelings, which he responds to by having a soft toy in his mouth to help. I felt so much love. I didn’t want to put pressure on the moment as it could go either way, but, thankfully, Pecco eased around him,” she continued.
Bell felt “so proud” of both her dogs during that moment, and she couldn’t resist sharing the footage on TikTok (@chelseybell_). As it turns out, internet viewers were equally delighted by the clip, and it has gone viral with over 1.2 million views and more than 119,000 likes at the time of writing.
In the days since their introduction, Pecco has become even more comfortable around his new brother, and Bucky is growing in confidence. The duo is learning how to play together, and Pecco has already taught Bucky the important life lesson of zoomies in the garden.
“Bucky is very confident and urging Pecco to play with him. Pecco has even picked up Bucky’s puppy toys to try to lure him to play and chase him, which has been very sweet,” Bell said.
Bucky’s personality is already starting to shine through, and he is proving just how loving he is. He is very observant and loves to watch everything Pecco does and learn from his big brother.
Bell has been truly amazed by the online response to the TikTok video. She told Newsweek that she “can’t believe” how invested social-media users are in Pecco and Bucky’s new friendship, and she is looking forward to keeping people updated as their bond grows even stronger.
Bell added: “It’s been lovely to have this TikTok experience in addition to documenting their adventures, and all the stuff that goes on with owning a golden retriever and an 8-week puppy. There’s so much learning and firsts to be had for all of us, which is tough and a lot of work, but we’re loving every minute of it.”
