New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson is adding another award to his trophy case.
On Wednesday, Brunson was announced as the 2026 ESPY winner for Best NBA Player — winning the award over San Antonio Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama, back-to-back reigning league MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and three-time league MVP Nikola Jokic.
Brunson just led the Knicks to the franchise’s first NBA title since 1973, taking down Wembanyama and the Spurs in five games. The 6-foot-2 point guard averaged 32.6 points per game and closed out the championship series with a 45-point performance in Game 5, securing well-deserved Finals MVP honors.
Brunson was announced as the winner of Best NBA Player on “NBA Today.” The Knicks responded to this notable award with a post on social media.
“JB is really that dude. congrats on your espy,” the team wrote on X.
Brunson can still win another ESPY at this year’s awards show.
The Knicks point guard is one of the four nominees for Best Male Athlete, alongside Los Angeles Dodgers two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani, NFL MVP Matthew Stafford and international soccer icon Lionel Messi.
The 2026 ESPYs will be broadcast on ABC starting at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday night.
