Dominik Mysterio Receives Bad News Following Injury Scare

The final episode of “Monday Night Raw” in 2025 brought with it some concerning news for The Judgment Day and the WWE Universe as a whole. Dominik Mysterio, the current Intercontinental Champion and a cornerstone of the red brand, has been officially ruled out of action with a serious injury.

The announcement was made during the December 29 broadcast from the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida, casting a shadow over what had been a career-defining year for the second-generation superstar. The news broke initially during a backstage segment featuring the women of The Judgment Day.

As Raquel Rodriguez addressed her stablemates, Liv Morgan and Roxanne Perez, regarding her upcoming Women’s World Championship triple threat match, the mood shifted. While Rodriguez insisted she didn’t need assistance to handle her business, Morgan offhandedly mentioned that “Daddy Dom is out of action,” dropping the bombshell on the television audience almost casually.

Later in the broadcast, play-by-play commentator Joe Tessitore provided an official update, confirming the legitimacy of Morgan’s comments. Tessitore stated that Dominik is indeed sidelined and used the word “indefinitely” to describe the timetable for his return.

While specific medical details remain scarce, the commentary team noted that the issue is related to his shoulder. This aligns with recent reports that Dominik had suffered a shoulder separation during a match for AAA in Mexico just days prior.

The timing of the injury is particularly devastating given the momentum Dominik had built in the latter half of the year. “Dirty Dom” shocked the world at “Survivor Series: WarGames 2025” by defeating John Cena to capture the Intercontinental Championship, a victory that arguably stands as the biggest of his career.

In addition to holding WWE gold, Dominik is also the reigning AAA Mega Champion, making him a double champion across two major promotions. His absence leaves a significant void not only in WWE’s mid-card title picture but also in the international wrestling landscape.

The “indefinite” tag suggests that fans should not expect to see Dominik back in the ring in the immediate future. If the injury requires surgery, the Intercontinental Championship could be in jeopardy of being vacated, though no decision has been made publicly by Raw General Manager Adam Pearce. For a superstar who was looking to close out 2025 with a bang, ending the year on the injured list is a bitter pill to swallow.
