Jacob Elordi was in the spotlight for the recent Academy Awards in Beverly Hills, as he looked much different than he did under hours of makeup for “Frankenstein.”

The Australian actor was among the cast and crew on hand for the major event celebrating this year’s cinematic achievements. Elordi caught much attention not just for his appearance at the event, but also for his date, as he took his mother, Melissa Elordi, with him to the event.

His film received multiple nominations, including Elordi among the nominees for Best Supporting Actor, due to his impressive transformation and performance as the creature. Ultimately, the award went to Sean Penn for his portrayal of Colonel Lockjaw in Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another,” the night’s big winner.

While Elordi didn’t win an Oscar for portraying Mary Shelley’s famous monster, the Guillermo del Toro film still garnered three awards during the evening. Those included Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, and Best Makeup and Hairstyling.

What are Jacob Elordi’s next roles after the Oscars?

Elordi didn’t just rise to fame overnight as “Frankenstein,” although that movie was responsible for even more viewers discovering who he is. He initially appeared in other projects, including Netflix’s “The Kissing Booth” films and two seasons of HBO’s “Euphoria,” a drama centered on teenagers and their families in a fictional school and city.

In “Euphoria,” the 28-year-old actor has played the main character Nate Jacobs in the televised and streaming series since 2019. Viewers have seen his character involved in plenty of dark moments, and that will likely continue as he’ll appear in Season 3, which premieres Sunday, April 12, on HBO.

Elordi also has two films among his upcoming projects. He stars in Ridley Scott’s “The Dog Stars,” a post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller that also features Margaret Qualley, Josh Brolin, and Guy Pearce in an ensemble cast.

The film, currently in post-production, involves most of humanity being wiped out by a virus, and the survivors having to deal with “roaming scavengers” known as “Reapers.” Elordi portrays the film’s protagonist, Hig, who has lost his wife.

In addition to the sci-fi project, Elordi is part of Cormac McCarthy’s “Outer Dark,” where he and Lily Rose Depp are the only cast members currently attached to the project. The premise involves a mother who finds out her brother abandoned her newborn, whom she tries to find with a trio of killers in pursuit.

László Nemes is directing and is among the writers, along with McCarthy and Clara Royer. “Outer Dark” is currently in pre-production. Whether or not these projects bring Elordi more Oscar nominations remains to be seen, but it seems like a matter of time for the talented actor, writer, and producer.
