An English cocker spaniel named Mango, from the United Kingdom, was just enjoying a moment of relaxation with his mom when things took a bizarre turn, leaving internet users in stitches.
In a viral TikTok video shared in May under the username @nalediandmango, the pup is lounging in bed with his owner when she playfully grabs one of his paws and pretends to take a bite out of it. As the woman turns the camera around toward him, Mango looks at her, frightened, as if worried she might actually go through with it.
"He's absolutely terrified," the poster writes in the clip. "Poor boy," she adds in the caption.
In an article published by Pet MD, Dr. Teresa Kho-Pelfrey describes this breed as loyal, intelligent, fun, and easy to train, adding that their "merry" personality makes them wonderful family dogs that do well with people of all ages.
Initially bred for bird hunting, cocker spaniels are great at sports and tend to have higher energy levels than many other dogs. While they love exercise and activity, they do also enjoy quality time with their humans cuddling in bed.
English cocker spaniels are usually about 15 to 17 inches tall, with long, furry ears and a medium-length silky coat that comes in 18 standard colors.
While they are all around great pups, like many other breeds, cocker spaniels are also prone to developing conditions such as periodontal disease; otitis externa, or swimmer's ear, an inflammation of the ear canal; and obesity, among others, says Vet Compass.
Cocker spaniels are also particularly susceptible to health issues such as progressive retinal atrophy, hip dysplasia, adult-onset neuropathy, skin infections, and familial nephropathy, among others.
The video quickly went viral on social media and has so far received over 14.2 million views and more than 3.5 million likes on the platform.
One user, Tionnaadabratt, commented: "Perhaps u should go in the kitchen … and get something to eat.."
LIL JAZZY posted: "I thought you were trying to shove a guinea pig in your mouth."
Falon120 added: "Just because they SMELL like corn chips, doesn't mean they TASTE like corn chips."
Jackson wrote: "I knew the day would come. my hooman is going to eat me."
