The 2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics have concluded, but it appears Milan is still the place to be this week for Chinese American athlete Eileen Gu, who won three medals during the Games — including one gold — further cementing her status as one of the most decorated freestyle skiers in the world.

Gu, 22, was born and raised in the United States but chose to compete for China, a decision that drew mixed reactions from Team USA fans. Nonetheless, she remained one of the most popular athletes at the Games.

On Thursday, she was seated front row at Prada’s show during Milan Fashion Week. Sitting next to her? Indiana Fever and WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark, who has a brand partnership with Prada — as does Gu.

“A superstar basketball player sat next to a superstar Olympian in Milan — go Caitlin, that is so cool,” one fan said.

Another added, “WOMEN’S SPORTS REPRESENT!!!”

A third person wrote, “Caitlin and Eileen?! I’m OBSESSED.”

“Oh, her fan base won’t like this,” one fan shared.

One more commented, “Gu is lucky to sit next to CC!”

Clark’s third WNBA season doesn’t begin for a few more months. However, she will soon begin preparing to make her debut with the U.S. Women’s National Team during the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers, which start on March 11.

Meanwhile, Gu is currently a senior at Stanford University, where she enrolled in 2022 as an international relations major. Finishing her degree could be next on her agenda after wrapping up a stellar showing at the Olympic Games.
