A toddler mom has divided the internet after sharing what she deems the only way to “properly” cook scrambled eggs.
In a viral Instagram video shared on Friday under the username @paristaylorx3x3, the poster can be seen cracking four eggs in a pan instead of mixing them together in a bowl first, cooking the egg whites before smashing the yolks together.
“In case no one taught you how to properly cook scrambled eggs. You cook egg whites first. Then mix the yolk in after. And you have the richest creamiest eggs. Try it and tell me I’m wrong”, the caption says.
“You’ll never go back to scrambling them in a cup before they go in the pan. Promise.”
The video quickly went viral on social media, receiving over 29.6 million views and 184,000 likes on the platform.
One user, Coral_inks, commented: “Amazing! Please never make cooking content again.”
Xx_devils.advocate_xx said: “I don’t think anyone taught you how to cook eggs…”
But not all users were against this method. P___nasty wrote: “Oh my God yeassssss, I love doing this.”
After reading the comments, the poster joked: “I made creamy eggs and accidentally started a civil war…”
When it comes to creamy eggs, expert cooking sites don’t seem to agree with the poster. According to BBC Good Food, for the creamiest consistency, eggs should first be whisked in a bowl with single cream, milk, and a pinch of salt, and stirred together until they’re consistently blended.
Then, after melting some butter in a pan, the egg mixture can finally be poured in and left to sit for 20 seconds without stirring. Only after that do they advise lifting the mixture and folding it over and over again from the bottom of the pan using a wooden spoon.
Wooden spoons have long been preferred by experts for cooking, especially when stirring something in a pan, but what makes them the best choice?
UPMC Health Beat says that metal and hard plastic utensils can scratch nonstick surfaces, creating spaces for bacteria to grow, while wood or silicone spoons and spatulas keep the food safe.
