MANILA, PhilippinesSouth Korean singer-songwriter EJAE gave hope to millions like her who had been rejected in the past with her win at the Golden Globes earlier on Monday, January 12 (Manila time).

EJAE is among the songwriters and singers behind "Golden," from the hit animated film KPop Demon Hunters, which won Best Original Song at the Golden Globe Awards.

"When I was a little girl I worked tirelessly for 10 years to fulfill one dream, to become a K-pop idol, and I was rejected and disappointed that my voice wasn’t good enough and so I leaned on songs and music to get through it, so now I’m here as a singer and a songwriter," EJAE said in her acceptance speech alongside her fellow writers.

She said the recognition was meaningful not just for her, but for audiences who see themselves in the song’s message.

"It’s a dream come true to be part of a song that’s helping other girls and other boys and everyone of all ages to get through their hardships, to accept themselves," she said.

EJAE thanked the Golden Globes for "accepting her voice," as well as the voices of those who struggled to achieve their dreams.

She dedicated the award to people who, like her, had experienced rejection.

"I can confidently say rejection is redirection. So never give up, it’s never too late to shine like you were born to be," she said.

Aside from Best Original Song, KPop Demon Hunters also won Best Animated Motion Picture at the awards ceremony.
