MANILA, Philippines — Streaming platform Disney+ is packing its upcoming Korean content line-up with shows starring several of Korea's biggest stars.
Disney unveiled its 2026 line-up for Korean content earlier this week in Hong Kong Disneyland during its Asia Pacific showcase.
IU and Byeon Woo-seok are pairing up for romantic comedy "Perfect Crown," wherein Woo-seok plays a modern-day prince who ends up striking a marriage of convenience to a conglomerate heir.
"While the pair will work together to advance their own ends, things don't go quite as smoothly as planned," a logline for the series goes.
"Whats's Wrong With Seceretary Kim" and "Alchemy of Souls" director Park Joon-hwa helms the project on a script by Yu Ain.
Singer-actress IU is coming off the heels of hit show "When Life Gives You Tangerines" — her first series since 2019's "Hotel del Luna" — Woo-seok is adding to his strong resume that already includes "Record of Youth," "Strong Girl Nam-soon," and "Lovely Runner."
Another royal drama hitting Disney+ is "The Remarried Empress" based on the webtoon of the same name starring Shin Min-a, Lee Jong-suk, Ju Ji-hoon, and Lee Se-young.
Min-a plays the titular empress Navier who is divorced by Ji-hoon's Sovieshu when he chooses to be with mistress Rashta (Se-young), so she instead marries childhood friend Prince Heinrey (Jong-suk) in an attempt to reclaim her throne.
