MANILA, Philippines — More hawker stall food options are on the table after Singaporean cuisine restaurant Kaokee opened its third Philippine branch.
After first launching locally in Makati's Belamy House and San Juan City's Corner House the past couple of years, Kaokee opened new doors in Ortigas' The Podium, making it the restaurant's first mall establishment.
The restaurant started out in the mall as a cart that only sold egg tarts and kopi options before expanding into a full-blown space on the fourth floor.
With a bigger space, Kaokee can now offer mall-goers its full menu of Singaporean food, from Kaya Toast to Prawn Laksa Soup.

A favorite are the restaurant's specialty Hainanese and Roast Hokkien Chicken, which are available in half or whole a la carte portions, individual solo sets, and party trays for take-out that come with rice and soup.
Recommended dishes include Salt & Pepper Spareribs, Crispy Shrimp Ball, Watercress and Fish Noodle Soup, Braised Prawn Mee, and Char Kway Teow.
The most expensive dish on the menu at P2,888 (only for sharing) is the Whole Steamed Crab that comes in either Singaporean Chili, Steamed Garlic, or Salted Egg sauce.
The cart is still operating selling egg tarts per piece and boxes of six or nine, as well as Nanyang Kopi & Teh, available in hot or cold options (except Kopi O Butter which is only sold hot).
