MANILA, Philippines — The global influence of BTS is undeniable but the Korean boy band is welcome to have new fans engage in their music.
BTS appeared on the March 25 episode of "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" to promote their new album "Arirang," the group's first release of new music in six years.
"If we're genuine with everything we put into a song — the choreography, lyrics, melody — it will resonate," Jungkook said in Korean after being asked by the host what was it about BTS' music and message that welcomes all kinds of people.
At the end of the episode, Fallon asked a number of submitted questions starting with what was the group's top five songs for a new fan to listen to first.
Suga answered first with "Swim," the lead single off "Arirang," then agreed to Jin suggesting "Mic Drop" which was from BTS' 2017 extended play "Love Yourself: Her."
V then said "Mikrokosmos" from the group's 2019 album "Map of the Soul: Persona" followed by Jim answering "Spring Day," a song from "You Never Walk Alone" which was a repackaging of the 2017 album "Wings" and the group's hit track "Dynamite."
Five songs had already been answered but V mentioned the "Cypher" series and "Ddaeng" by the group's rappers RM, Suga and J-Hope, bringing it to a good seven correspending to each member.
Fallon also asked the group about Jin's butt theory, if any of them had ridden a car driven by RM, how they would describe their fans in one word (Jin and Jungkook both said "love") and what Fallon himself had to do to as the eighth member of BTS for a day.
Following a massive comeback concert in Seoul and a "Swimside" show in New York City in a span of three days, BTS will embark on a sprawling world tour promoting "Arirang" which starts next month in Goyang.
The tour is currently set to finish in Manila on March 13 and 14 next year —BTS's first time in the Philippines in a decade — although no venue has been confirmed yet, with many speculating it may be the SMDC Festival Grounds. — Video from The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon's YouTube channel
