MANILA, Philippines — The kitchen is mom’s turf. It is where she nurtures her love for the family by preparing healthy and delicious meals for the loves of her life, her husband and their kids. She will not compromise the freshness of her ingredients and will leave no ladles nor turners unturned to be able to serve the freshest, healthiest and most flavorful dishes for the family to enjoy.

For her to achieve this, she needs a little help in creating not just a cozy and comfortable home but, going down to the details, an organized and smooth flowing kitchen as well. It starts with essential appliances that answer your particular needs, and the refrigerator is perhaps the most essential and core large appliance in the kitchen. After all, it is where fresh raw ingredients as well as cooked food for the family is stored.

Celebrity mom Danica Sotto-Pingris shares some smart tips and solutions from European home appliance company Beko to help moms organize their refrigerators, make room for fresh ingredients, and keep them fresh longer.

1. Label everything

You love to make the most of our resources, often using plastic containers to store leftovers. To keep track of what’s inside and ensure that food stays safe to eat, the best tip is to label your containers.

Write down the storage date, expiration date, and any special notes. This not only helps with safety, but also makes it easy to see what you have on hand.

2. Apply the FIFO principle

FIFO stands for “First In, First Out.” This principle suggests that you place new items in the back of the fridge and older items in the front. This way, you will use what you have before it spoils, saving money and cutting down on extra grocery trips during busy weekends.

3. Create zones in the refrigerator

Just like you organize different areas of your home, zoning your fridge can help you find what you need quickly.

For the Crisper Drawers, for example, a Beko refrigerator comes with HarvestFresh technology, which mimics the sun’s natural 24-hour cycle to maintain the freshness and vitamins of your produce. You can extend the life of your fruits and vegetables, thus ensuring that you make the most out of your fresh grocery shopping.

The Beko refrigerator is divided into different zones.

The Door Storage area is perfect for items you reach for often, like condiments and drinks. So place items you use most often close to the door for easy access. This saves you time and energy by minimizing how long the door remains open.

Designate specific areas for different types of food. Place heavy items on the lower shelves and store raw meats in compartments specifically designed to prolong their freshness, such as Beko refrigerators’ NutriFreeze compartment feature.

With some thoughtful planning and the right refrigerator, organizing your refrigerator can be your secret to stress-free cooking and meal prep.
