MANILA, Philippines — Netflix series "Wednesday" will have another brief reunion for its upcoming third season with Winona Ryder joining the cast.
Winona previously starred with Jenna in "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice," the sequel written by showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar and directed by series producer Tim Burton.
The director, who also helmed several of the show's episodes, worked with Winona on the original "Beetlejuice," as well as "Edward Scissorhands," "Frankenweenie," and the music video of The Killers' "Here with Me."
It is also a return to Netflix for Winona after starring in the hit series "Stranger Things," which concluded earlier this year after a decade.
"I am so happy that Winona has joined us, she fits right into this world," Burton said in a statement. "And she's a dear friend. I always feel lucky to work with her."
Gough and Millar also touched on Burton and Ryder's partnership in their own statement, calling the actress "the GOAT" for Outcast characters.
Ryder will play a character named Tabithta in a guest starring role for multiple episodes, likely connected to the characters of other newcomers Noah Taylor, Oscar Morgan, and Kennedy Moyer.
Also confirmed to appear in the upcoming third season are Eva Green as Ophelia — the sister of Catherine Zeta-Jones' Morticia and therefore Wednesday's aunt — and Chris Sarandon of "The Princess Bride," "Dog Day Afternoon," "Child's Play" and "The Nightmare Before Christmas" fame.
Green, Sarandon, and Taylor are all Burton collaborators like Ryder, appearing in at least one of the director's films.
Still in the cast with Ortega and Zeta-Jones are Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Joy Sunday, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer, Isaac Ordonez, Billie Piper, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, Victor Dorobantu, Evie Templeton, Luis Guzmán, Joanna Lumley, and Fred Armisen.
