MANILA, Philippines – To honor acclaimed Japanese filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki and his continued contribution to film as a 2024 Ramon Magsaysay Awardee, a weekend dedicated to Studio Ghibli awaits Filipino fans in November!
Mini film festival “The Studio Ghibli Weekend” will host free cinema screenings of six iconic Studio Ghibli films on November 16 and 17 at the Red Carpet Cinema in Shangri-La Plaza, Mandaluyong City. The films are Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Howl’s Moving Castle, Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, and Castle in the Sky.
The event is organized by Studio Ghibli, The Japan Foundation in Manila, and the Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation to highlight the outstanding contributions of Miyazaki to global culture through his artistic animation storytelling, filled with emotions and intricate environmental themes.
Shangri-La Plaza and Fully Booked are sponsoring the event, in collaboration with mm2 Entertainment, the official distributor of Studio Ghibli titles in the Philippines. Tickets will be available online starting November 4, but details on how to avail of them have yet to be confirmed.
