MANILA, Philippines – Malacañang has shortened work hours for offices under the Executive branch on Monday, September 23, in observance of National Family Week.
Malacañang ordered this through Memorandum Circular No. 64, suspending work in government offices under the Executive from 3 pm onwards on Monday.
MC 64 was signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on September 12, and was released to the public on Wednesday, September 18.
MC 64 excludes agencies involved in the delivery of basic and health services, disaster preparedness and response, and the provision of other vital services.
“The suspension of work in other branches of government, independent commissions or bodies, and private sector is also encouraged, so as to afford all Filipino families the full opportunity to celebrate the 32nd National Family Week,” MC 64 said.
The Palace also encouraged government workers covered by the shorter work hours on Monday to “fully support the programs and activities relative to the observance of Family Week, as organized by the National Committee on the Filipino Family.”
Proclamation 60 (s. 1992) designates the last week of September as Family Week while and Proclamation 326 (s. 2012) designates the fourth Monday of September as “Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga” Day. – Rappler.com
