MANILA, Philippines – In the Philippines, the phrase “Kain tayo” (Let’s eat) is more than just an invitation to a meal.

Our culture of sharing and hospitality is deeply embedded in everyday life, and this spirit of togetherness is the focus of the second Tagaytay Food Festival, which returns to Taal Vista Hotel, Tagaytay City from Friday, July 18, to Sunday, July 20!

With the theme “Food That Binds,” the three-day event brings together local chefs, food advocates, and culinary talents to celebrate Filipino cuisine and all its intricacies and behind-the-scenes stories.

The first edition of the chef-driven culinary event in 2024 — which was named Tagaytay Food & Wine Festival then — took place across several venues in Tagaytay, starting at Anya Resort and culminating at Taal Vista Hotel. It highlighted the city’s growing food and wine scene through a series of chef collaborations and cultural activities, including the Grand Tasting, Sunset Sessions, and the Creative Bulalo Challenge — all of which made their debut during last year’s festival.

This year, the festival will continue to shine a light on the origins, traditions, and local communities that come together through food — and good food, at that!

Day 1: Origins and flavors

The festival opens with a Festival Fair & Farmer’s Market, followed by a series of curated food and drink experiences, including tasting dinners, food talks, and heritage tours.

Attendees can also enjoy a more relaxed Drinks Fest in the afternoon, followed by the Grand Tasting, a formal dinner where a curated lineup of chefs presents personal, contemporary takes on Filipino flavors. This exclusive evening promises dishes that go beyond menus, dishes crafted specifically for the event.

Day 2: Food for thought

On July 19, participants can attend a full-day program of cooking demos, panel conversations, and live forums from renowned chefs such as Thirdy Dolarte, owner of Hapag MNL.; Ryan Cruz, president and CEO of Nippon Hasha Inc.; Chaela Dee of Toyo Eatery; Stephan Duhesme of Metiz; and Tina Legarda of Bamba Bistro.

The sessions will discuss topics including sustainability, innovation, heritage, and the evolving identity of Filipino food.

Guests can also opt to explore more of Tagaytay’s rich culinary legacy and cultural roots firsthand with the Cavite City Food Heritage Tour, led by food historian Ige Ramos.

An exclusive lunch featuring One Michelin Star restaurant Fiz Singapore will be held at the Fatted Calf for RCBC clients, while other participants can indulge in the feast over at Taal Vista’s al fresco dining area, the Veranda Heritage Lunch.

Sunset Sessions at Taza Fresh Table offers a relaxed, produce-forward meal that combines merienda and early dinner.

The day ends with Food That Binds at The Fatted Calf, a cross-border dinner featuring Restaurant Fiz Singapore and Chefs Rhea and Jayjay SyCip, highlighting ingredient-driven, fine cuisine.

Day 3: Tradition meets tomorrow

The final day of the festival begins with a new menu launch at Samira by Chele in Anya Resort Tagaytay.

The festival formally concludes with Sinta: A Collaboration Dinner, featuring Chefs Ariel Manuel, Bettina Arguelles, and culinary partners from the PYC Foods Group — an intimate celebration of Filipino kitchen artistry and diverse culinary perspectives.

Although the main festival wraps on July 20, a special culminating event — the Creative Bulalo Challenge, an ode to Tagaytay City’s famed dish — will be held on August 3 at Skyranch Tagaytay. Here, Filipino chefs and culinary innovators will reimagine the classic highland dish using fresh techniques and premium ingredients.

Tickets to the Grand Tasting are priced at P3,950 per person, with limited slots available for premium dining experiences throughout the festival. Interested guests are encouraged to book early to secure their seats.
