If you’re a sneakerhead, you definitely have shoes of various designs and colours in your home, but you probably don’t have one inspired by a crunchy noodle snack. Yes, you read that right. Asics Malaysia has collaborated with Mamee Monster and Sneakerlah (Malaysia’s biggest streetwear convention) to pay tribute to one of Malaysia’s most beloved snacks.

What are the features of the shoe?

You gotta love the pale-yellow noodle laces, which resemble Mamee Monster noodles. Meanwhile, the shoe panels come in different shades of yellow tones, like the noodles. The speckled midsole cutely resembles the seasoning powder that comes with the snack, while the back heel features the design of the seasoning powder’s packets.

The shoe also has a blue insole, which, of course, represents the mascot, Blue the Monster, with the ASICS logo printed in velvet on the insole. The shoe also features Blue, holding the “LAH” symbol, representing Sneakerlah. The final touch is a stylish dubrae, or a lace lock on the front for a nice final touch.

Another cool aspect about the shoe is that apparently, the canvas layer of the shoe can be cut to reveal a noodle graphic!

Besides the shoes, there was also exclusive merchandise released at the Mamee Monster booth at Sneakerlah 2024:

This isn’t the first time that Asics Malaysia and Sneakerlah have created one-of-a-kind sneakers which focus on Malaysia’s rich heritage and highlight local food and landmarks. These include the GEL-Kayano™ 5 OG “Nasi Lemak” (2019), the GEL-LYTE™ III “Kuala Lumpur Twin Towers” (2020), and the GEL-LYTE™ III “Teh Tarik” (2022).

Where to get your hands on the shoe?

The limited edition shoes, priced at RM629, were available at the SneakerLAH event from 2-3 November 2024 at MITEC KL and on ASICS.com

If you missed out on the chance to own the cool pair, there seems to be still hope, as there are multiple listings on Carousell selling the shoe for around RM700+.
