Everyone has their own way to give back to the community. For one Kuih Raya vendor, her way of contribution comes in the form of ‘Kuih Raya Rahmah’.

Khairunni Ahmad Zabidi, 64, started the initiative called ‘Kuih Raya Rahmah’ after she was inspired by an incident with a customer.
Affectionately known as Opah Chik, the vendor based in Perak explained that she had come across a customer who was unable to purchase kuih raya for their child due to insufficient money.
After a discussion with her daughter, Opah Chik decided to sell Kuih Raya for as low as RM6 per pack. It is understood that this year is their second year selling Kuih Raya Rahmah.
According to her, even though the profit wasn't really there, she was happy knowing that everyone now has a chance to buy kuih Raya.
All the Kuih Raya sold at her stall were handmade
Opah Cik's kuih Raya stall is located at the parking lot of Shell petrol station at Jalan Raja Ashman, Ipoh.
There are over 60 types of kuih Raya sold here, with about 20 types of kerepek.

Interestingly, all of them were handmade by Opah Chik, her elder sister and her daughter with the help of their workers, who were mainly single mothers.
According to Opah Chik, they had started the production of the kuih Raya two weeks before Ramadan began.
Since March 15, it is estimated that about 7,500 kuih Raya were sold. Crowd favourites include biskut mazola, pineapple tart, almond London, biskut nestum and rempeyek.

According to Opah Chik, she believed the reason why her 20-year-old kuih Raya business was still relevant to this day was because she never skimmed on the quality.
She explained that even though the cost of supplies to make the Kuih Raya has increased, she still sells her kuih Raya at an affordable price.

“For the Kuih Raya Rahmah, I still made them using the same ingredients as the premium one. The only difference is the amount of Kuih Raya inside. For the Kuih Raya Rahmah, there are only 15 to 22 pieces per container.”
When asked about her plan for the future, Opah Chik said that for now, she plans to sell other items as Raya approaches, like lemang periuk kera, dodol and more.
