99 Speedmart Founder Debuts on Forbes Malaysia's Rich List, Ranks 8th with Net Worth of US$3.5 Billion

In early February 2025, 99 Speedmart founder Lee Thiam Wah ranked 7th on the 2024 Nanyang Rich List. Recently, the boss of the well-known retail chain once again made history when he appeared for the first time on Forbes Malaysia's 50 Richest list for 2025.

According to the website, Lee debuted at number eight on the list with his net worth of US$3.5 billion (about RM15.4 billion).

The shares of 99 Speedmart made their debut on Bursa Malaysia at RM1.85 apiece on Sept 8, last year.

Aside from Lee, another new entrant to the list is Tan Boon Hock, a former cop in the Royal Malaysia Police who turned to engineering before starting his own electrical contracting firm in 1984.

Tan debuted on the list at number 40 with a net worth of US$490 million (about RM2.16 billion).

As for the top spot, business tycoon Robert Kuok remains number one on the list with a net worth of a whopping US$11.4 billion (about RM50.3 billion).
