SHAH ALAM – As Malaysia assumes the Asean Chairmanship in 2025, the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) is poised to play a key role in strengthening regional economic cooperation.

As an official event under the Asean Summit, SIBS 2025 will highlight Malaysia’s leadership in fostering economic integration within the region.

Scheduled to take place from Oct 8 to 11 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, SIBS 2025 adopts a more focused and strategic approach.

With six key components, the summit aligns with Asean’s economic priorities and aims to attract 50,000 visitors and feature over 700 booths, further cementing its position as one of Southeast Asia’s largest and most influential business and trade events.

One of the main attractions is the Selangor International F&B Expo (SIE F&B), a platform that brings together leaders and innovators in the food and beverage industry. With around 215 booths, it will showcase the latest trends and technologies shaping the sector.

Last year, the expo generated a potential transaction value of RM300.4 million, reflecting the industry’s significant growth potential in the region.

The Selangor Investment and Industrial Park Expo (SPARK) will focus on promoting industrial park development and investment opportunities in Asean. Expected to host over 239 booths, SPARK is designed to connect property developers, investors and manufacturers.

At SIBS 2024, SPARK achieved RM12.2 billion in potential transaction value, far surpassing its target, which underlines its importance in attracting high-value investments.

Another highlight is the Selangor Asean Business Conference (SABC), a gathering of policymakers, business leaders and investors to discuss economic trends and trade opportunities.

This year, SABC will offer a platform for key growth regions and provinces to present their unique advantages to participants.

The Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention (SDEC), organised by the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation, will focus on digital transformation and smart city initiatives.

Featuring discussions on start-ups, artificial intelligence and semiconductor innovation, SDEC will bring together industry leaders and policymakers to shape the future of Selangor’s digital economy.

SIBS 2025 will also introduce two new features.

The Selangor International Care Summit will focus on the care economy, with expert forums and exhibitions promoting innovation and sustainable growth in the sector.

Meanwhile, the Selangor Aerospace Summit, previously known as the Selangor Aviation Show, will adopt a revamped format to cover commercial aviation, drones and sustainable aviation fuel, among other topics.

As a vital part of the Asean Summit, SIBS 2025 highlights Selangor’s role as a gateway to Asean, fostering business engagement and investment opportunities across the region.

Selangor Selangor State Executive Councillor for Investment, Trade and Mobility Ng Sze Han said Selangor’s status as the Gateway to Asean is strengthened through SIBS 2025, which brings together global investors, business leaders and policymakers to seize new opportunities.

With its comprehensive programme and increasing scale, SIBS remains Selangor’s flagship trade and investment event, expected to draw thousands of participants and make a significant impact on regional economic growth.
