MAF appoints diverse panel of leaders to drive HIV/AIDS advocacy

KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF) has unveiled its newly appointed Board of Trustees for the 2024-2026 term, following a selection process during the Annual General Meeting of the Malaysian AIDS Council on Aug 17.

The nine-member board brings together a diverse panel of leaders committed to advancing the Foundation’s mission of combating HIV/AIDS in Malaysia.

New Line-Up of Trustees

The newly appointed Board of Trustees includes:

Adeeba, who has chaired the Board since 2006, has been re-elected as the Chairman.

Expressing her gratitude, Adeeba was honoured by the continued trust placed in her.

"With the support and expertise of our board members, we will continue our efforts to expand the reach of MAF and positively impact the lives of those affected by HIV/AIDS in Malaysia.

“Through innovative programmes and community outreach, we aim to make a lasting difference in healthcare, education, and welfare across the nation," she said highlighting the Foundation’s unwavering commitment to improving health outcomes.

The Board also welcomed two new members, Karex Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Goh Miah Kiat and Tatler Malaysia Managing Director Geraldine Beh, alongside the reappointment of independent trustees Munir Abdul Aziz and Tiara Jacquelina.

“Our partnership with MAF has spanned nearly a decade. We remain committed to supporting their mission to meet the UNAIDS challenge of ending AIDS by 2030 and addressing the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS," Goh said.

Focus on Advocacy and Sustainability

In a related matter, independent trustee Munir Abdul Aziz, who is also the managing partner at Wong & Partners, emphasised the Board’s commitment to robust governance and long-term sustainability.

“Our Board is dedicated to uplifting communities affected by HIV through advocacy, education, and comprehensive support. We aim to foster an inclusive society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive,” Munir stated.

The MAF also expressed confidence in the new Board’s ability to drive meaningful progress in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

The Foundation looks forward to collaborating with its trustees to advance initiatives that promote a healthier, more equitable society for all Malaysians.

For the next two years, the Board of Trustees will work closely with the MAF team to address pressing health challenges and support underprivileged communities affected by HIV/AIDS across the country.
