PUTRAJAYA – The search for Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 is set to resume on Dec 30, marking the most significant effort in years to uncover what happened to the aircraft that vanished in 2014.

The Malaysian government has confirmed a renewed agreement with United States-based company Ocean Infinity, enabling the continuation of the deep-sea search in the southern Indian Ocean.

The mission will span 55 days and be conducted in phases across areas identified as having the highest likelihood of locating the wreckage.

According to the Transport Ministry, Ocean Infinity has confirmed to the Malaysian government that it will restart the 55-day deep-sea search operation, which will be carried out intermittently.

The ministry said the move reflected the government’s ongoing commitment to bringing closure and reassurance to families who have endured more than a decade of uncertainty.

The renewed operation is an extension of the service agreement sealed between both parties on March 25, reinforcing Malaysia’s determination to resolve one of aviation’s most perplexing mysteries.

Described as a crucial step for families still awaiting answers, the upcoming search rekindles hope for progress in a tragedy that stunned the world.

MH370 disappeared from radar on March 8, 2014 while travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 passengers and crew on board.
