The Orlando Magic are set to land Desmond Bane from the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for fellow guards Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Cole Anthony, four unprotected first-round draft picks and a first-round pick swap.

According to reports, Orlando will send Memphis the 16th overall pick in this month’s NBA Draft, the Phoenix Suns' first-round selection next year and the Magic’s own unprotected first-rounders in 2028 and 2030. The pick swap is slated to be lightly protected in 2029.

It’s an upgrade at starting shooting guard for the Magic, who went with Caldwell-Pope at the position this past season.

Orlando (41-41) won the Southeast Division for the second straight campaign, with Caldwell-Pope making a team-leading 77 starts but averaging just 8.7 points.

He only averaged five points in the NBA Play-In Tournament and play-offs combined as the Magic were eliminated in the first round for the second year in a row.

In steps Bane, who played in 69 games for Memphis (48-34) this season and averaged 19.2 points, 6.1 rebounds and 5.3 assists.

The Grizzlies finished second in the Southwest Division and advanced out of the Play-In Tournament before getting swept by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the opening round of the play-offs.

Anthony, meanwhile, saw his scoring average dip to a career-low 9.4 points per game in 67 contests this season after the 2020 first-round draft pick averaged 13.5 points in Orlando’s past three campaigns.
