TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bali Governor Wayan Koster announced that Bali has been ranked as the world's best destination for 2026 in the Travelers' Choice Awards: Best of the Best by TripAdvisor.

Koster expressed satisfaction that Bali maintained its title as the top global destination despite facing several issues throughout 2025.

"Bali is positioned at the number one spot among the top 10 world tourist destinations. Bali has secured the highest position in the world throughout history, proving that issues such as waste, traffic congestion, and low visitor numbers cannot shake Bali's position," he said in Denpasar on Saturday, January 17, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

In the Travelers' Choice Awards: Best of the Best by TripAdvisor, Bali ranked first ahead of London, Dubai, Hanoi, Paris, Rome, Marrakesh, Bangkok, Crete, and New York.

The Bali Provincial Government attributes this achievement to Bali's strength in culture, traditions, arts, and nature. It also stated that the provincial government is developing tourism and infrastructure for a sustainable future.

Governor Koster expressed gratitude to all parties and the community for maintaining tourism quality. This marks the first time Bali has secured the top spot on TripAdvisor's best destination list.

Furthermore, beyond being the best world destination, Bali earned global recognition as a top honeymoon destination, a top 10 cultural destination, a top 10 solo travel destination, and a top 20 trending city.

Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana stated on social media that this award represents millions of objective reviews by foreign tourists over the past year. This accolade is granted to fewer than 1 percent of destinations worldwide that meet the highest standards.

"Bali's selection as the best tourist destination in the world according to TripAdvisor indicates that Bali continues to be a magnet for world tourism," wrote Minister Widiyanti on her Instagram account.

The Ministry of Tourism stated that Bali's tourism will develop into a quality destination that benefits the local community. "We want to ensure that Bali continues to grow as a quality tourism destination that benefits the local community, preserves the environment, and inspires the world," she said.
