TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest have secured their spots in the Europa League semifinals by eliminating their opponents in Thursday's quarterfinals, Antara reported.
According to UEFA records, English Premier League club Aston Villa eliminated Italian side Bologna in the quarterfinals with an aggregate score of 7-1.
Aston Villa secured a 4-0 victory over Bologna in the second leg of their Europa League quarterfinal at Villa Park Stadium in Birmingham, on Thursday local time.
Aston Villa's victory over Bologna in this match came thanks to goals scored by Ollie Watkins, Emiliano Buendia, Morgan Rogers, and Ezri Konsa. This result completes Aston Villa's victory in the first leg when they won 3-1 away to Bologna.
Meanwhile, another English team, Nottingham Forest, advanced to the Europa League semifinals by eliminating the Portuguese team Porto with an aggregate score of 2-1.
Nottingham Forest narrowly defeated Porto 1-0 in the second leg of their Europa League quarterfinal match at the City Ground Stadium in Nottingham.
Nottingham Forest's victory over Porto in this match came thanks to Morgan Gibbs-White's goal in the 12th minute. This victory means Nottingham Forest has completed the draw they received when they played the first leg at Porto's home stadium.
In addition to Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest, two other teams have advanced to the Europa League semifinals: Freiburg and Braga.
