TEMPO.CO, JakartaDubai is set to enhance its appeal with the Dubai Museum of Art (DUMA). The museum building will become a new landmark in the modern city of the United Arab Emirates, as it will be built floating above the waters of Dubai Creek, the heart of Dubai. This 5-story museum will offer a blend of modern art, innovation, and immersive cultural experiences.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, stated that this new cultural landmark advances Dubai's strategic goal of positioning itself as a global center for creativity and culture, solidifying its place on the modern art scene.

"The Dubai Museum of Art showcases the power of public-private partnerships to spark bold ideas, deliver projects that exceed expectations, and create world-class landmarks worthy of Dubai," he said at the museum's launch on October 25, 2025, as quoted by Gulf News.

This iconic project is carried out by Al Futtaim Group, one of the companies dominating the real estate, automotive, and retail industries in Dubai. The museum is designed by the renowned Japanese architect, Tadao Ando, known for his minimalist concrete structures that harmonize with nature through the use of light, shadow, and subtle spatial balance. Tadao Ando received the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 1995. It is considered the Nobel Prize of architecture.

Museum Building Design

The building's design, a masterpiece in its own right, is inspired by the sea and pearls, symbols of Dubai's heritage and spirit. The unique curved shell shape enveloping the circular exhibition space symbolizes unity, discovery, and continuity. A cylinder opening in the middle allows natural light to illuminate the interior, reminiscent of glistening pearls.

DUMA will feature several customizable exhibition galleries on the first and second floors. The third floor will house a restaurant and VIP lounge, while the ground floor and basement will be home to a variety of spaces. Specially designed event spaces, beautiful vantage points, diverse comprehensive learning spaces, and a library will ensure full support for a variety of cultural events throughout the year.

Upon operation, the museum will also host artist discussions, panel talks, educational programs, and art exhibitions regularly. To further deepen its educational impact, the museum will include a library and learning spaces, as well as world-class training programs designed to nurture the future generation of creative leaders.
