TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A new innovation in artificial intelligence (AI) products has emerged from OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which is evolving beyond a chatbot into a powerful tool for visual creation.
Its latest image generator, ChatGPT Images 2.0, introduces advanced “thinking” capabilities that allow the system to interpret user prompts and transform them into detailed, production-level visuals. Launched roughly a year after version 1.0, the upgraded model offers end-to-end automation for a wide range of visual tasks.
According to a review by GSMArena on Thursday, April 23, 2026, Images 2.0 can research and synthesize information from the web to generate refined visual outputs. The feature is also designed to follow prompts more accurately while preserving specific details requested by users.
OpenAI positions Images 2.0 as a potential replacement for dedicated image-editing applications. The system includes tools such as background removal, aspect ratio transformation, and the ability to generate up to eight images simultaneously in 2K resolution.
The model also shows strong performance in producing infographics and diagrams, with significantly improved fidelity across multiple languages. This makes it particularly useful for professional and cross-lingual visual communication.
While Images 2.0 is available to all ChatGPT users, its enhanced “Images with thinking” mode is limited to Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise subscription tiers.
