1. Japanese Instant Ramen
Japan has a huge variety of instant ramen. Bring some back so that everyone at home can taste their distinctive flavors, which are quite different from Indonesian instant noodles.
2. Matcha powder and candy
Japan is the largest producer of matcha, a finely ground powder of specially grown and processed green tea. In addition to tea, matcha is also used as an additive to many types of foods and beverages. It is always a good idea to pick up a bag of Matcha powder and a package of Matcha candies as souvenirs.
3. Nori chips and snacks
Dried seaweed, or nori, is a staple in Japanese cuisine. They are also available in many forms such as chips, crackers, furikake or toppings, and others. They are widely available in souvenir shops or any grocery store and are an excellent omiyage to take home.
4. Anmitsu
Anmitsu is a type of wagashi, traditional Japanese confection common to serve as dessert, made of small cubes of agar jelly. A popular dessert in teahouses as well as modern sweet shops, they are usually served with ice cream, shaved ice, fruit, whipped cream, or a combination of these.
5. Rice crackers or senbei
Senbei are Japanese rice crackers that come in many shapes, sizes and flavors, usually savory but sometimes sweet. Seasoned with salt, soy, seaweed, shrimp, cheese, sesame, curry, or fish, senbei are the perfect Japanese snack to bring as a souvenir, as each region has its own distinct type of senbei most of the time.
