Lee Min-jung’s homemade kimchi stew didn’t just win over the crew—even her husband Lee Byung-hun couldn’t be left out.

In Korea, rainy days are often accompanied by cozy comfort foods—and at the top of that list are crispy jeon (Korean pancakes) and rich, flavorful kimchi jjim (braised kimchi with pork). On July 1, actress Lee Min-jung shared three of her favorite rainy day recipes on her YouTube channel Lee Min-jung MJ, giving fans a taste of what a family meal looks like in the Byung-hun household.

The star of the show? Her mouthwatering pork kimchi stew, which had the entire production crew craving seconds.

Lee began by prepping thick cuts of pork shoulder, seasoning them with minced garlic and black pepper to remove any gamey scent. In a large pot, she carefully layered onions, kimchi, pork, and more kimchi before adding broth and letting everything simmer to perfection.

Jeon (pancakes) and kimchi jjim are beloved staples on rainy days. Koreans often say the sizzling sound of pancakes in a pan replicates the sound of falling rain.

Once the stew was ready, Lee proudly presented the bubbling pot to the crew.

“This calls for rice. Hurry and get some!” she exclaimed confidently. The staff burst into laughter, quickly responding, “On it!”

After tasting her creation, Lee beamed.

Thinking of her husband, she added with a smile: “I should save a little for Oppa… I wasn’t planning to, but now I feel like I should.”

The spontaneous comment drew more laughter, and one crew member even declared the dish better than a famous kimchi jjim restaurant they had recently visited—leaving Lee both flattered and delighted.

A Family Trip for Squid Game Season 3 Premiere

In another vlog released on July 15, Lee gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at her family trip to Los Angeles with Lee Byung-hun and their son, Jun-hoo. The family visited the TCL Chinese Theatre, where Lee Byung-hun’s handprints are displayed alongside Hollywood legends.

During their stroll along the Walk of Fame, Lee Min-jung stopped to greet fans and take photos—a gesture that quickly went viral, earning praise from online communities for her kindness and humility.

A Lesson in Perseverance

But one of the most touching moments came during a quiet conversation between Lee Min-jung and her son. She took the opportunity to share a meaningful life lesson about her husband’s career.

“There’s something I’ve always wanted to tell you,” she began.
“Back in the day, your dad was the actor people in the industry wanted to avoid. His first three movies flopped. But now? He’s the actor everyone wants to work with.”

She continued:

“Just think how hard that 20- to 30-year journey must’ve been. That’s what I want you to understand—the effort it takes to get where he is now.”

This tender exchange captured not only a wife’s deep respect for her husband’s journey, but also a mother’s hope to pass down resilience and determination to the next generation.
