Vince Zampella, co-founder of Infinity Ward and Respawn Entertainment, has passed away at the age of 55, leaving a substantial legacy for the global gaming industry.
Vince Zampella, one of
the world's most influential game developers, has died at the age of 55 after a car accident.
He is a co-founder of Infinity Ward, the studio behind the hugely successful Call of Duty game series.
After leaving Activision following Modern Warfare 2, Zampella sued the company for up to $1 billion and reached a settlement worth tens of millions of dollars.
In 2010, he further made his mark by founding Respawn Entertainment, the studio that created Titanfall and Apex Legends.
In 2021, Zampella joined Electronic Arts and was tasked with rebuilding the Battlefield franchise.
Also that year, he renamed DICE LA to Ripple Effect Studio and joined the development of Battlefield 6, which is scheduled for release in 2025.
Electronic Arts expressed its deep sorrow, affirming that Zampella's influence will continue to resonate through generations of gamers.
His passing is seen as a great loss to the gaming industry, bringing to a close the illustrious career of an iconic creator.
