The Lotus For Me PHEV hybrid is the first model in a series of new cars that the Chinese brand Lotus will launch this year in the international market.

Lotus has been quite open about its plans to introduce a plug-in hybrid version of the Eletre in China. This model will also have a rather unusual new name: Lotus For Me. However, it's highly likely this name will not be retained in the global market.

In terms of appearance, the new Lotus SUV is virtually indistinguishable from the regular For Me and the regular Eletre. Aside from a new logo, functional exhaust pipes, and a few additional air vents at the front, the design remains essentially unchanged.

The Chinese automaker calls this PHEV SUV a "super SUV," developed based on the company's new X-Hybrid architecture. This system uses a 900-volt electrical system combined with a 70kWh battery pack and two electric motors.

The Lotus For Me PHEV 2026 boasts a total power output of 939 horsepower, slightly higher than the flagship Eletre R electric vehicle. A 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine is also part of the powertrain, operating when the battery needs assistance.

From a standstill, the For Me accelerates to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds. It then accelerates to 200 km/h in 10.5 seconds and completes the 400-meter distance in 11.16 seconds. Even more surprising is the range claimed by Lotus. Lotus states that this SUV can travel 418 km on electric power alone and over 1,400 km when the hybrid system is active.

The fuel consumption according to WLTP standards is just 0.07l/100km under ideal test conditions, a figure that is very impressive in theory and certainly difficult to achieve in real-world conditions other than in a laboratory. The battery pack supports 6C charging speed, meaning it can charge from 30-80% in just 8 minutes.

Beneath the surface, the same 48V active anti-roll bar system as on the Eletre remains, as does the advanced dual-chamber air suspension and dual-valve adaptive dampers. Despite being equipped with the new plug-in hybrid system, the For Me's weight remains roughly the same as the Eletre, ranging from 2,575kg to 2,626kg, depending on the configuration.

Lotus announced that the For Me model will go on sale in China at the end of March. This will be followed by Europe in mid-2026, then North America, the Middle East, Asia Pacific , and other markets before the end of the year. Its launch also coincides with Lotus introducing a new internal standard called the Lotus Tuned Specification (LTS).

According to Lotus, LTS is a proprietary engineering and dynamic tuning framework that brings several core systems into a coordinated development process. Lotus engineers worked with key suppliers to jointly develop components such as brakes, active stabilizers, and suspension hardware.
