On the evening of July 10th, the Ho Guom Theatre ( Hanoi ) lit up with a special concert, The Symphony of Time. (The Symphony of Time), opening the series of events celebrating the 3rd anniversary of the building's inauguration (July 9, 2023 - July 9, 2026). The program, directed by the Political Affairs Department of the Ministry of Public Security and performed by the Ho Guom Opera House, brings together three renowned opera artists: soprano Diana Damrau, tenor Javier Camarena, and mezzo-soprano Marina Viotti, along with the Hanoi Symphony Orchestra and the Southern Choir, under the direction of conductor Tran Nhat Minh.
This marks the first time all three world- renowned artists have visited Vietnam. Hanoi audiences will enjoy classic opera excerpts such as Roméo et Juliette , Carmen, Norma, La Traviata, Les Contes d'Hoffmann , along with famous arias like Je veux vivre, O mio babbino caro , and Casta Diva . The musical experience will expand with the choral piece Nelle tue mani from the film Gladiator and Astor Piazzolla's Libertango , creating a performance that spans a range of emotions, from classical bel canto to familiar cinematic melodies.
Diana Damrau: "Music is medicine for our souls."
Considered one of the finest coloratura soprano voices today, Diana Damrau is famous for her role as the Queen of the Night. (Queen of the Night) in Mozart's *The Magic Flute * (Die Zauberflöte) - one of the most technically challenging roles in this genre of music.
She has performed on prestigious opera stages such as the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, the Royal Opera House in London, and the Vienna State Opera, and was awarded the title of Kammersängerin (Honorary Chamber Singer) by the Bavarian State Opera.
