Jannik Sinner endured a challenging match against Tomas Machac in the third round of the Monte Carlo Masters 1000, before ultimately winning 2-1 (6-1, 6-7, 6-3).

Right from the first set, the world number 2 showed his superiority by quickly breaking his opponent's serve twice, taking a 4-0 lead. Machac could only win one game before quickly accepting a 1-6 defeat after 27 minutes.

However, the drama began in the second set when Machac unexpectedly played brilliantly. The Czech player secured two crucial breaks to lead 5-2, putting Sinner in a difficult position. Nevertheless, Sinner showed his resilience by breaking back, forcing the set into a tie-break. There, Machac continued his excellent form and won 7-3, leveling the score at 1-1.

Pushed into a decisive position, Sinner quickly regained his focus. In the third set, he completely controlled the match, securing two crucial breaks and closing out the match with a 6-3 victory after more than two hours of play.

With this result, Sinner advances to the quarterfinals and will face sixth seed Félix Auger-Aliassime in a highly anticipated matchup.
